Lub DubPLEASE USE THIS PRESET WITH LUB DUB.WAV FILE (56KB, HUMAN HEARTBEAT).
Salk (1960) showed that newborns in hospitals listening to heartbeat sounds gained weight at a faster rate. Likewise, breathing was deeper and more regular among these babies. (Salk, L. (1962). Mother's heartbeat as an imprinting stimulus. Transactions of the New York Academy of Sciences, Series 2, 4, 753-63.)
There is also some evidence that mother's heartbeat affects neurogenesis and gene activation in human embryo and fetus (http://www.babyplus.com).
Since imprinting is an ireversible process, and all humans are imprinted to the sound of a heartbeat, my thesis is that if it works with newborns and embryos, it should work with grown ups too.
segment A Beta to Alpha segment B Alpha (starts beating) segment C Theta to Deep Delta, back to Alpha segment D Alpha (continuous play) Frequency 90.0 - 111.0 taken from http://www.lunarsight.com/: pleasure-producing beta-endorphins rise between these frequencies.

what does this preset do? thanks |
As I said in my comment, this preset is based on Salk's experiment, which deals with imprinting of new born babies. The sound of mother's heartbeat is the first sound that embryo can hear, and according to Salk, babies are imprinted on it (imprinting is a form of early learning - especially among birds: for example, when a little chicken comes out of an egg, it starts following the first moving object around, usually, it's his mother). Imprinting can take place only during a short-term, so called, critical period. After that, imprinting stimulus, or any similar stimulus, can be used as a reward for other, higher forms of learning. Animal is imprinted on that stimulus for life. It doesn't manifest itself in following objects, but in social and sexual preferences. If you imprint a chicken on a duck-mother, it later shows sexual preferences for ducks. Salk showed that human babies are imprinted on LUB DUB (heartbeat sound), and that it can be used as a relaxation stimulus. When my children don't want to sleep, I just put them (one at a time) on my chest, to listen to my heart. Since imprinting is for life, my idea is that the sound of a heartbeat can be used for similar purpose with grown ups. I used simple binaural beat frequencies, from Beta to Delta, but my main point is this wav file. It can be used for relaxation, but some new studies show that mother's heartbeat helps embryo's neurogenesis (neuron growing), DNA activation, and so on, like some natural metronome. So, may be, listening to this preset makes your brain (or hair) grow more :> As to this other question, in General Settings of your bwgen, find segments/lenght (add up all segments, and this is the lenght of your preset - you can make segments shorter, it doesn't affect their structure, only timing). Excuse me for my bad English. b0sk0, [email protected] |
The subject of maternal bloodpulse imprinting on neurogenesis is addressed in detail at www.babyplus.com, with some of my academic journal articles about this fascinating topic posted in full under "The Science" section.
